The quarter north of the central station is characterized by massive and anonymous corporate buildings, like fortresses in the urban landscape. One of them is the current headquarter of the BR in its centre. Since most facilities of the Campus move to a new location in Munich-Freimann in 2024, it can serve a new purpose in the future.

The past years have shown that Munich is attractive for tech companies and also the city‘s authorities embrace the developement and plan to transform Munich into „Isar Valley“. To make this process sustainable, the BR Campus opens its facades to invite the public to get in contact with technology and digitalisation and its stakeholders. This way, inhabitants of Munich can shape the process towards Isar Valley bottom-up and make it sustainable and flourishing. Facilities to create ideas, plan their execution and produce them as well as present them with the possibility of sharing them with the public on the Campus create various intersection between stakeholders, support dialogue and enable users to go through the entire developement process of a product in one location.

Opening ground floor areas along the main axis to improve accessibility of the campus and creating a square on the southern edge of the site can be seen as the first steps towards the transformation. Further development phases plan on the creation of a roof terrace out of the current parking platform and the modernization of old structures in FH 4, FH5 and FH7 as well as converting Herbst- and Hopfenstraße into car-free pedestrian zones with different qualities and purpose. Also enhancing entrance areas in FH1, FH2 and FH3 along Hopfenstraße by making them more visible and inviting to connect the urban network and detaching interior walls to create larger working spaces are future alterations to the existing structure.
